“Build an endlessly upgradable weapon!”
These words were enough to get us to click the “Download Ammossum Demo” button on the game’s Steam page. Developed by West Glade, it is the studio’s first indie game set to be released on Q1 2025 on Steam.
West Glade is a Russian team of two brothers that was founded in 2022, occasionally receiving help with art, localization and music assets from friends. In total, seven people are currently working on Ammossum.
In this visually stunning game (we said we like good graphics before, have we not?,) you play as a brave, fit Opossum. Yes, it rhymes with Ammossum, genius!
You are tasked with guarding the Western Railroads and protecting your train (we call it the Opossum train) from hordes of infected animals. You get to choose the railcars for your train. The railcars have different abilities and can craft items for you, like weapons, bombs, bullets, and even booze! As if we needed a reason to drink. If that is not enough, you are tasked with finding the source of the mysterious plague as well while you are protecting your train from it. We don’t envy the task set on you, ye’ brave Opossum!
The twist we loved most is that you are actually able to endlessly boost your weapon with a chain of upgrades, forever. You build a chain from different items. For example, you can combine a cannon with a bomb and then add an arrow to the bomb. But it’s not just any arrow—it’s an arrow with a bottle, and you can fill it with acid. Chains like this can be endless and incredibly varied.
If you’re tired, take a shower, because why not? The game has a pre-battle chill zone where you can, yes, take a shower, chill with capybaras, hit the bar and even play some cards.

Now, breakable surroundings have been a big thing for us here on FragFriend since we first met this feature in the sadly-not-the-same-anymore (tears drop) Battlefield series. And guess what? You, the Opossum, like breaking things too. You can use the environment around you in a strategic manner to drive you on your goal of winning the battle, so make sure you use your environment well. This means that the environment is destructible. We surely will be letting off steam (and breaking rocks on the way) using our brave Opossum, and our endlessly-upgradable weapon.
This game should not be resource-intensive, and it really isn’t so. The official system requirements are as follows:
